Whale Shark

The whale shark is the biggest fish and shark in the world. These gentle marine giants roam the oceans around the globe, generally alone. However, large numbers of whale sharks often gather in areas with abundant plankton food. At the end of our internships we make a tour to photograph them near Isla Mujeres island.

In season the magnificent and majestic Spotted Eagle Rays, with wing spans of up to 20', can be seen around Cozumel's marine protected park, they are one of our favorites to photograph.

Half & Half Pictures

These shots work best in shallow water, calm water. The brightness in the top half of the photo will be greater than the underwater portion. Because of this, strobes are usually used underwater to brighten up that area. Cozumel has many beach dives perfect to practice this kind of photography.

Coral Reefs

Cozumel is part of the Mesoamerican barrier reef system, the second largest coral reef system in the world. This marine park has several species that are under some degree of protection, you can find huge species like this grouper that kept posing for us for the picture.

Cow Fish

The colors disappear underwater in the same order as they appear in the color spectrum. Even water at 5ft depth will have a noticeable loss of red. For this reason, strobes are usually used to add color back to subjects. We provide you SEA&SEA strobes included on our underwater photography courses, your pictures will look as colorful as this cow fish.

Butterfly Fish

You need to be very patient when photographing subjects like this butterfly fish, spend some time with them until they trust you, then you can approach and take that shot.
